Here we go with the latest by one of the most recognizable voices in Rock music and his band. A soon as you listen the first single from this album, Someday When, you realize there's a heavier weight of keys in this album, in fact, this cut sounds much to Giuffria's era so this track could perfectly fit into their debut album back in 88'. The album opens with Big Money a cut in the harder vein of HOUSE OF LORDS. One Man Down initially reminds of their cover of BLIND FAITH's Can't Find My Way Back Home because of the acoustic guitar but soon the track changes into a song highly influenced by Zeppelin with guitars ala-JIMMY PAGE. First To Cry is a more melodic or even pop so could had been part of Rude Awakenings, nice song with beautiful guitar solo and with no doubt one of the highlights in this album. Saechin' is rawer with prominence on guitars and built on a rythm that sometimes reminds of Black Velvet by ALANNAH MYLES but obviously much harder. Living In A Dream World is involved in an arabian atmosphere that i don't like much though the song sounds good specially in chorus part with nice background keys. The Next Time I Hold You is the only ballad, not a bad song, but has excesive cymbals in the chorus part and even are misses some orchestal arrangements that would have fixed much more better with the piano all over the song than this keys that are a little strident. Run For Your Life is another track that could be from their fist album with bombastic keys and a guitar solo combined with a funny hi hat that made of this another highlight. Hologram, from the first listening you'll notice this song has a touch of DEF LEPPARD. Curious what happens to me with this song, the first couple of times i listened i didn't know if i liked or no but now is my favorite one, precious chorus and awesome guitar solo but production should be stronger in a couple of moments. Seven is pure Hard Rock sounding much to Sahara, another great track. Once Twice is faster, in the vein of Metallic Blue, your feet won't stop moving till this cut ends while Blood, the last cut, is darker with strong guitars and amazing and catchy chorus.
All over the album James Christian keeps shoving his voice is in perfect shape while Jimi Bell's solos are simply impresive. Keys takes a principal role and that gives the true flavor to HOUSE OF LORDS sound, but drum work should be a little bit more polished, i mean, sometimes are played in a modern way that doesn't fit right with the sound of this album.
I hope and pray is because of the copy i own but sound should be much better.
In summary, great album that bring us back to the sound of their first three works. Though this album can't reach the excellence of this efforts, what is for sure is that it's the best by HOUSE OF LORDS since 1992.
Here we go with the second effort by this swedish band that bring us back to the 80's with a polished Hard Rock. Once upon a time Hard Rock ruled the charts all around the world, at that time the reference band was DEF LEPPARD because of their personal sound and amazing song writing so many bands decided to try to sound like them, it happened to BB STEAL, realising a good album called On The Edge, it happened again with BRYAN ADAMS, with a masterpiece Waking Up The Neighbours, and a cople of decades later it happens again with GRAND DESIGN. The beautiful part of this story is that those were amazing albums but the sad part is that those albums were the swan song by BB STEAL, BRYAN ADAMS and DEF LEPPARD themselves... I hopethat story not to repeatwith GRAND DESIGN. Said that, this is a good album, if you are DEF LEPPARD fan. The cd keeps the line of their previous effort with rocking vibe and nice production. The album opens with Get On With The Action, good rockin' track that could have been part of Adrenalize becoming a Leppard's hit. Change Me Up is a catchy song that keeps that rockin' feel while Oughtograugh accelerates the rhythm leading us to a smooth mid-tempo Your Loves A Runaway, another lepparian track in the vein of Hysteria or Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)... one the highlights of this album. Time to jump to Addiction For Love the only ballad in the album sounding much to Love Bites, anyway a beautiful song while Idolize Me reminds of Rocket because of the drums rythm. I left for the end Lets Rawk The Nite, the absolute highlight, funny, fresh, catchy and if you close your eyes you'll think you're listening Joe Elliot though Pelle Shaeter can reach higher notes.
In summary, a good album but too similar to DEF LEPPARD. Goods new are that this album is even better than the albums of the last ten years by DEF LEPPARD but bad news are that this album is light years away from all the others albums by DEF LEPPARD... if you want to sound too similar too another band you have to offer something special and that's not the case.
These canadians guys released their debut album Prey back in 1990 with the help of Gene Simmons. The first single from this album was Poisoned By Love, and impressive Hard Rock tune full of energy that sadly failed to chart. The whole album is a gem with the highlights of Love Me Or Leave Me and Borderline.
Though the album didn't enjoy any success it's a must have for all Hard Rock lovers... canadian high class Hard Rock.
Some Hard Rock with southern roots from Alabama. Got No Shame (from their debut album back in 93') reached USA # 2 (Mainstream Rock Tracks)... turn up the volume to 10!!!
Some good Hard Rock by this canadian underrated band killed by grunge. Their only album Saints & Sinners was released in 1992 by indepedent label (Savage) with the help of Aldo Nova. Their only single is not among their best tracks so imagine what this album is... awesome.
