Black 'n Blue - Hell Yeah (Release: May 13, 2011)

Here we go with the returning of Black 'n Blue after 23 year and let me say that this is a very consistent album. This album is definitely a winner. Black 'n Blue is back in bussiness with their harder edge, pure Hard Rock from the begining to the end. The voice of Jaime St. James sound better than ever and guitars by Shawn Sonnenschein and Jeff Warner rock hard. The opening track is called "Monkey", just take a listen to those guitars an its vibe will get inside you and make you want to yell. Pete Holmes on drums make a good rockin' work as you will notice in every song specially in "Fools Bleed" or the title track "Hell Yeah". One thing worth to pay attention is Patrick's Young bass sound, is so raw and it gives to all the album a live feel that you will notice in "So Long".
In summary, a good album in the vein of 80's Hard Rock with a soft touch of modern, but if you are a fan of Black 'n Blue you'll miss songs like "Without Love", "Miss Mistery" or "I'll Be There For You"

Best Tracks (in order of preference):

"Monkey"
"Fools Bleed"

Warrant - Rockaholic (Release: May 13, 2011 (EUR) - May 17, 2011 (USA))

Here we go with the latest by this band from Hollywood, California. They are back with a new lead singer, Robert Mason, best know for his work in the 1992 self-titled album by Lynch Mob. This guy has one of the most personal voices of rock and he can reach the higher notes, Jani Lane is a great singer and helped Warrant to be great but Robert Mason is simply FANTASTIC!!! and his voice fits perfect with the new Warrant. The core of the band is the same that recorded "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich", "Cherry Pie" and "Dog Eat Dog".
First single to be realeased is "Life's a song". Is a mid-tempo with a mix of classic warrant and modern flavor, a good choice for a first single that after a couple of listening will make you sing the chorus over and over. You can watch the video for this song here: http://warrantrocks.com/
This album reminded to "Dog Eat Dog", songs like "The Last Straw", "Show Must Go On" or "Sex Ain't Love" will make you jump from your seat and proof that Mason knows how to rock. "Sunshine" has a modern vibe that i don' t actually like and "What Love Can Do" is another mid-tempo with a funny use of the Hi-hat. In this album is missed a soft ballad, "Home" is a good song with some beautiful arrangement, that i wish they were with a real orchestra, but is not one of those ballads that in the future when you say Warrant will come to your head.
In summary, great production and raw sound, a good album by the hardest version of Warrant. Special attention to Robert Mason, his voice is a 5 out of 5 Rocks!!!

Whitesnake - Forevermore (Release: March 25, 2011 (EUR), March 29, 2011 (USA))

Here we go with the first post of this blog... and could be no other that the latest by Whitesnake. This is one of the best guitar work of the later 20 years, Dough Aldrich and Reb Beach sound better than ever and all the guitar riffs will take you back to the work of John Sykes in 1987. New drummer, Brian Tichy, will bang your head, just take a listen to "All Out Of Luck" or "Steel Your Heart Away" his drum is like an air raid in your ears. Bass player, Michael Devin, do a fantastic work but i miss his bass a little louder. And what could we say about the singer, David Coverdale. He still rocks like a mad dog, every new rock singer should learn from this guy how to sing and how to scream, he is the voice of Hard Rock and is demostrated in this album.
Great sound, awesome songs and fantastic production but... is missing an elegant ballad in the vein of what was "Is This Love". Its been 24 years since Whitesnake released, probably, the most elegant ballad of Hard Rock and i think is time for another try. Anyway, there is no "Is This Love" but we have the title track of the album "Forevermore" that is an astonishing in crescendo ballad that will remind you to "Sailing Ships", softer and louder than "Sailing Ships" in one word, better.
An finally a reproach to the record lavel, "Love Will Set You Free" is a good song but not enough for the first single.
Timothy Dury appears as additional personnel, a great keyboard player that should had take a most important role in this fantastic album.
