BLACK LAVEL SOCIETY - The Song Remains Not the Same (Released: May 10, 2011)

Here we go with the latest by the band of a guitar's Gods. "The Song Remains Not the Same" is an acoustic album full of versions of BLS and others bands and thats the reason why this album is a little weak. First three cuts of the album are "Ovelord", "Parade Of The Dead" and "Riders Of The Damned" sounds like we were back to the grounge era, specially because of rancid vocals that make this a disappointing start for this album. "Dark Days" sounds empty if you know the original version and "Junior Eyes" once again sounds so grunge. Probably the best cut of the album is "Can't Find My Way Home". The original by Blind Faith is an anthem so this song has been covered multiple times being the best the one by House Of Lords back in 1990 however BLS cover is even fantastic with an awesome guitar solo. The rest of the album keeps being weak with the only exception of "The Firts Noel", a very beutiful cover of this Christmas song where Zakk shows he is one of the giants of the guitar world.

THE CARS - Move Like This (Release: May 10, 2011)

Here we go with the returning of a fantastic band. The Cars are back with their original formation except Beanjamin Orr who died in 2000 (RIP), and with this album demostrate that they are at their best. "Move Like This" is full of rockin' and funny cuts starting with the first single "Sad Song", this is not but a sarcastic title for a funny song with all of the elements of the classic The Cars. "Blue Tip", the first track, is another funny cut with this trademark keys in the music of The Cars. "Too Late"... what a fantastic song, if you close your eyes your back to the 80's with its catchy chorus, astonishing keys and smooth and beautiful backing vocals. "Soon" is the first ballad in the album, a soft song full of keys and romantic lyrics. "Free" and "It's Only" keep the rockin' vibe of the album while "Take Another Look" is an absolute gem with keys that remind the magnificent "Drive".
In summary, it was worth waiting 24 years for this album .

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION – 2 (Release: June 13, 2011)

Here we go with the second effort by this super-band in 9 months. This is a short period so some might think that this album could be a little loose but nothing further from reality. This album keeps all the energy of the previous one with a solid production by Kevin Shirley. First single to be release is “The Outsider” a raw Hard Rock track with an astonishing showdown between Bonamassa and Sherinian while Hughes is at his best rockin’ like an animal. “Man In Th Middle” is a darker song with a heavy guitar riff while “The Battle For Hadrian’s Wall” with a zeppelinesque vibe is a highlight in the album. “Save Me” is another cut with Zeppelin’s flavor and some arab touches all this combined with a beautiful chorus that make this an interesting song.
Another cut that shines specially is “Crossfire” a more melodic track that still keeps the strengh of all the album.
Special mention the lenght of the songs, only three cuts below 5 minutes.
In summary, an album that reminds of Led Zeppelin with pure Hard Rock from the begining to the end and with four true musicians at their best.
Best Tracks (in order of preference):
“The Outsider”
“Save Me”
“Crossfire”
“The Battle For Hadrian’s Wall”
“Faithless”

STEVIE NICKS – In Your Dreams (Released: May 3, 2011)

Here we go with the latest by the Queen of Rock and Roll. This is her first album in ten years and with help of producers Dave A. Stewart and Glen Ballard and the result is that the Queen still owns the crown. The first track and single “Secret Love” is such a beautiful soft melodic rock anthem full of keys and with Stevie’s voice shining through smooth guitars by Dave Stewart. The second cut “For What It’s Worth” is an acoustic song with some country touches while “In Your Dreams” keeps the country flavors with a funny rythm that will make you move your feet without stopping. One of the album’s highlight is “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream) a song enchanted by Stevie’s spell while “Annabel Lee” has all Stevie’s trademark. “Soldier’s Angel” is a dark song with guitars by Lindsey Buckingham and “Everybody Loves” is a smooth song with a polished production, soft keys and beautiful guitar solo and backing vocals by Dave Stewart while Stevie’s harder side is represented in “Ghost Are Gone”
In summary, this album is a mix of different styles but with all of Stevie’s flavor. Great come back.
